Welcome to Northern Lights

Northern Lights is a Christian ministry based in the historic city of Chester, on the border between Wales and the North West of England.

We have been hosting conferences and meetings in the Chester area since 1995.

For the most part these have focused on the prophetic, worship and intercession. We believe that Chester is a strategic city in the purposes of God.

Situated on a hill overlooking the river Dee, Chester is known as 'the walled city', having as it does the most complete circuit of Roman, Saxon and Medieval city walls in the UK. A settlement from earliest times, in around AD 75 Chester became a Roman fortress. More recently, it was a place from which salt, candles and cheese were exported.

LionThese days Chester is a centre of commerce and tourism, a beautiful city, enticing around six million people to sample its medieval rows, fashionable shops and historic sites.

In the Second Book of Kings, Chapter 2 v 19, we can read about another walled city - Jericho.

The men of the city said to Elisha, "Look, our lord, this town is well situated, as you can see, but the water is bad and the land is unproductive."

"Bring me a new bowl," he said, "and put salt in it." So they brought it to him.

Then he went out to the spring and threw the salt into it, saying, "This is what the LORD says: `I have healed this water. Never again will it cause death or make the land unproductive.'"

And the water has remained wholesome to this day, according to the word Elisha had spoken. (NIV)

We believe that God has a purpose for Chester. One in which it bears much fruit and new life in the Kingdom of God. One in which it is a light on a hill, salt in the earth and a resource to the church and the people for many miles around.

We believe that God wants to establish a well here, a well that will remain.
